Fixed! MB SD Connect C4 Software Unable to Start on Win10

Problem

MB SD Connect C4 software unable to start or automatically repair on Win10.

Solution

Step1. Go to advanced options;

Step3. Go to start up settings;

Step4. Start PC;

Step5. Computer press F4 to enter state mode;

Step6. Press the “Win+R” shortcut key to open the “Run” window, enter “MSConfig”, click OK;

Step7. Select diagnostic start up, click OK.

 Using sdconnect c4 plus clone to access to Mercedes car model SL300-24 Dec 1990. 

Trying to interrogate MB WDB1290612Fxxxxxx

Every time I try to get diagnostics this happens "Switch ignition on"

No 1 black masses should earth?  no 8 yellow LS Can_H no 16 12V B+

Is this correct should there be any other cables connected instead of these?

It only has 16 individual pins see photo above. There isn't one too old.

Another case:

I have a Chinese clone SD connect c4 from YANHUA factory, self test without any errors, all the firmware updates can be applied without any troubles at all, batteries fully charged, tried several OBD cables BUT i still get the "turn ignition on" and furthermore it cannot recognize the VIN of the connected car.

It is easy to test cable with other one.

i just had Yanhua mux which has been in use for years, selftest was ok, Software was ok. But did not connect to car. Mux has the round connector pcb, which pins are soldered to pcb pads, they were loosen in heavy use. Some of cheaper clones has pins go thru the other pcb also, and soldered to pcb, i think Yanhua is more sensitive with her pads. I resoldered all pads and Mux is now perfect.


Confirmed: this solution is working perfect. Change obd socket, my sd connect worked %100..

2. SCN coding importance

The move to SCN coding was *very* important. There are too many configuration items in every ECU now to have someone set options by hand whenever an ECU is changed, or to understand how changes on one device have to be done on other devices. These cars are really very very complex, and unlike your laptop, if something goes wrong can result in fatalities.

There are software dependencies between different ECUs, and actually loading software into ECUs is now needed regularly - and thus so is up-to-date diagnosis equipment and up-to-date firmware disks too. A simple example is an Audio system. If you update the firmware in the COMAND unit the firmware in every other MOST device needs also to be compatible (if you want it to work reliably) and thus they all need firmware updates. If you change one component then all components need to be updated to be properly compatible.

The latest equipment even now uses ethernet to load firmware into some ECUs (so it takes 20 minutes not 20 hours).

Without SCN coding it would take considerably longer to change any control unit, would result in mistaken configurations, and thus the cost of repair (or re-repair) would go up and up as systems got more complicated. SCN coding basically allows the correct configuration to be loaded into the car.

Imagine what could/would happen if you had to "hand code" the airbag controller after replacing it? Would you trust all of your airbags to work after the local mechanic had to set all the options correctly? I certainly would not.

Your comment that "The capital cost of the latest version, plus the monthly subscription, means it is beyond the reach of many smaller independent garages" is just wrong.

If your garage has the skills to deal with the technology (and i'd argue that if they don't they shouldn't be doing complex things with the newest vehicles), then it is completely affordable.

If you want to work on older cars, then most independents seem to use a clone machine and use it for limited things.

The EU competition commissioner has previously taken a good look at this market and enforced rules that mean diagnosis equipment (for newer vehicles) is available at sensible prices. This is not true in the rest of the world. Mercedes diagnosis systems in USA are more expensive, and in the far east (and I think Australia) are not available at all to independents.

Sorry to be so contradictory, and in summary, but without SCN coding there would be misconfigurations and un-reliability - possibly dangerous to life - occurring quite regularly. And if you are going to need to work on newer cars, there are very affordable Xentry diagnostics systems - you just need to talk to Mercedes.

New features of XENTRY Diagnosis Kit 3 systems

New features in Support Tool:

The Support Tool has been given a new icon in a new design.

The "Contact Support" tab contains the email address for the User Help Desk.

The "Support Packages" tab has a "Pin icon" located at the left next to each screenshot. When you

click on the button, the Screenshot Tool marking window appears.

Screenshot Tool: After closing the marking screen, the selection screen for the Screenshot Tool appears. This makes it easier to create several screenshots than was previously the case.

A graphic set of instructions before the test is available in "VCI self-diagnosis".

"Network self-diagnosis" shows adapter settings and network settings and a connection check is also run.

"XENTRY Diagnosis Pad" tab: System information displays the connection status to the backend servers in the form of an immediate status picture.

The "Client test" button in the "Information" is no longer shown, it is now available as bandwidth selfdiagnosis.

The new overview page in the "XENTRY Diagnosis Pad" shows a summarized view of all the relevant system information.


New features in XENTRY Update Service:

If Retail Data Storage malfunctions because of a defect, ConfigAssist can be used to configure the "RDS failure" fall-back mode. In this mode the data are loaded directly by the XENTRY Diagnosis Pad from the Internet. 

Important note: Please coordinate this in advance with your IT manager!

Connected XENTRY Kit I Kit 2 systems are now visible in the XENTRY Update Service Control Center in Device Administration

The flashware user interface does not contain any details on Regio or the type of Digital Operator's Manual, the HLI information is no longer available


New feature of XENTRY Diagnosis VCI:

The WLAN channel for XENTRY Diagnosis VCI can be configured.

Important: This setting is only to be used when the VCI connection has problems!
